Dear Editor,

I'm so saddened by the impending closure of the Court Square Library. I was chair of Community Board 2 when we negotiated the agreement that allowed Citicorp to build on that site. Our main demand was that library.

The Queens Library system said that there were only 5,700 residents in that area so they wouldn't put in a library without the "amenities package" we negotiated. It was the best example of "responsible" development" in New York City history and now it's gone!

Sincerely,

James Dillon

Long Island City
