Now in its fifth year, the parade was bigger than ever, with hundreds of marchers, and performances by the P.S. 31 and 41 choirs, St. Andrew Avellino School Chorus, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Cheer Squad, and Michelle Marie Rock Camp, as well as a Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting.
At the end of the parade, which is sponsored by Councilman Paul Vallone and the Bayside Village BID, volunteers handed out food and treats courtesy of Bayside Milk Farm, Martha’s Country Bakery, One Station Plaza and Spanglish.
Mr. Met, Santa Claus and Congresswoman Grace Meng also made an appearance.
Marchers included the NYPD Ceremonial Unit, Auburndale Soccer Club, St. Kevin’s Girl Scouts, Whitepoint Youth Football and Cheer, Bayside Little League, Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League, Landrum School of Dance, Girl Scout Troop 4202, Divya Jyoti Temple, Fitzpatrick Academy of Irish Dance, and the Northwest Bayside Civic Association.
“Seeing the smiles on every child's face, family members embracing as we marched, and community groups uniting is what the holidays are all about,” said Vallone. “I’m already looking forward to next year.”
