The Queens College women's tennis team was selected second in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Tennis Preseason Poll on Monday, as voted upon by the league's head coaches. Queens garnered 58 points overall and two first-place votes.

Just four votes ahead of the Knights were the defending champion Bears of NYIT in first place with 62 points and six first-place nods. LIU Post was tabbed third, while District of Columbia was slotted in fourth. Roberts Wesleyan, St. Thomas Aquinas, Daemen and Molloy rounded out the poll.

The Knights made their 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance last season, winning the East Region 2 title over Goldey-Beacom. Queens defeated LIU Post in the semifinals of the ECC Championship in the fall before falling to NYIT in the title match.

The Knights made the Round of 16 in the NCAA Championship and concluded their season at 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the ECC.

Reigning ECC Coach of the Year Alan Nagel brings back nearly all of the Knights' lineup from a season ago. Of the returnees are three all-conference players in senior Emy Alplund and juniors Laura Ortega Jover and Line Sorsdahl Aasen, as well as Reehan Rashad, who went 4-2 at No. 1 singles and 5-2 at No. 2 doubles during the spring season.

Queens will open its season at home on Friday, September 1, against West Liberty before opening ECC play at home against Roberts Wesleyan one week later. The Knights will host the ECC Championship once again, which will take place on October 27 and 28.
