Travelers going through LaGuardia Airport’s Marine Air Terminal will get a closer look at the history of the LGBTQ movement in New York City.

Last Friday, the Port Authority (PA) unveiled its new Pride exhibit at Terminal A, which features historical information on various LGBTQ milestones in New York.

The exhibit pays particular homage to the Stonewall riots 50 years ago and the passing of marriage equality in 2011.

“Our focus this month on the LGBTQ+ community embodies our commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said PA executive director Rick Cotton. “The establishment of our employee resource group, PA Pride, is critical to fostering an inclusive environment among our staff.”

LaGuardia Airport, LaGuardia Community College and JetBlue all collaborated on the exhibit, which will be on display throughout June.

The Port Authority is also celebrating Pride Month with rooftop films, interactive performances and participating in commemorative parades throughout the region.

“We’ve been laser-focused on developing an agency-wide inclusion mindset that encompasses everything we do each day,” added PA chairman Kevin O’Toole. “From our hiring practices, which have resulted in nearly 50 percent of all new hires being minority candidates, to our support of employee resource groups like PA Pride, we will continue to foster a diverse and inclusive environment among our workforce.”
